Well sorta. She's based on an actress's hairstyle and a comic book creature

Great work but she looks more like a cat or a fox than a werewolf.  Do werewolves have bushy tails?

Just how I wanted to draw her... I'm not much of a furry artist otherwise

This looks really good and well done, I just never knew of a werewolf with a long bushy tail.  She reminds me of a Catain race character from STAR TREK: The Animated Series.  Ensign M'Ran.  They were a humanoid-cat race.

Folklore-wise, werewolves either look like conventional wolves, or they look like tailless wolves (and other descriptions suggesting that some 'werewolf attacks' were by domestic dogs who had gone feral). Anything that can kill a regular wolf or human can kill a werewolf permanently.

I thought that the one major myth was that ONLY A SILVER BULLET or a SILVER-TIPPED ARROWHEAD or solid SILVER SPEAR could even hurt a Werewolf let alone kill it.  There was also a SILVER BOLT, which is like a wooden stake about 20-25 inches long but made of PURE SILVER

That's Hollywood. Same with the werewolf bite and pentagram (whether on victim or werewolf).

The details surrounding shapechangers depend on the culture involved. To the Dineh (Navajo), skinwalkers are evil witches who also cause disease and they can get their powers through murder and incest. Roman writers mention entire communities that turn into wolves for extended periods of time. Generically throughout Europe, people became werewolves either because God cursed them or they had drunk water from a wolf-print or performed specific rituals. (Project Gutenberg has public-domain books containing summaries of medieval tales, and there are stories about werewolves among them.)

Werewolves can either transform at will, or at specific intervals, depending on the belief-system and/or how they gain that ability.

Pick up some older books about werewolves for some of the lore. Regrettably, books published since the late 1980s seem to be infected by New Age BS.

OK.  Thank you.  Do you know anything about "Revanents" (spelling)?  The Catholic Church mentions them sometimes in texts by church elders from over 800 years ago.

Revenants - Dead who won't stay dead. Vampires, zombies (the traditional sort, not the modern carnivores), ghosts (the ones you can see). They usually were evil-doers in life. As revenants, they caused trouble, including spreading disease. To get rid of them, you had to decapitate their corpses and remove their hearts.

Folklore-wise, revenants do not 'live' for millennia, nor do they have any social system. Eventually, they rot away. Vampire monarchs and courts are modern inventions.

BTW - For takes on vampire lore:

Vampires, Burial, and Death by Paul Barber

Food For the Dead by Michael E. Bell (about New England vampires)

Vampires: Encounters With Undead by David J. Skal (really, anything by him is worth reading, including his annotations to 'Dracula').

Thank you for that.  There is a book written by an Amish woman from the early 1900s that allegedly was the woman channeling her dead sisiter's spirit speaking about what the Amish consider to be vampires.  In Amish lore, vampires are just negative energy spirits that can feed off the energy of other people whether they are alive or dead.  The reasoning is that this is one reason why people do not like cemeteries as they can 'feel' the negative energy beings or vampires feeding off of their life force while you are there.  The Amish do believe in vampires but not like the ones Hollywood portraits.  The book was called, "Letters from the Other Side".   It is interesting to read whether you believe the woman or not.  It offers insight to vampire lore from the point of view of the Amish.
