Artist's Comments

Her was a quick scribble...which I promise to clean up and re color....of the Motion Picture uniform. Usually called the ugliest costume of the bunch, I thought it might be interesting to try better color schemes for them. So our model here is Lt. Com. Sharri. From right to left she is wearing the standard color for her division in Starfleet. Next she is wearing the color scheme worn by Admiral Kirk (better than all the others in my opinion) and lastly one I proposed as being closer to the original dept colors.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall red or blue uniforms in the original Motion Picture.

It was a proposed color scheme by me...the middle one was Kirk's admiral uniform color scheme

They had them, white, grey, brown... they went crazy with colors for different services. But by the next move they went back to services/departments being displayed by pins on the uniform (saved money).

Inspector, I really love this!
The song "Simply Irresistible,"by Robert Palmar keeps going through my head looking at it.

If a man speaks in the forest and there is no woman there to hear it, is he still wrong?

I read that originally the 'bib' part was supposed to be white on all of them with the sleeves and sides in the department colours. They dropped the idea at the last minute and only Kirk's formal Admiral uniform was made that way.

Also, if I recall correctly (which is unlikely), the epaulets display the rank braid on the short sleeved versions and are absent on long sleeved versions where the braids are present.

That's a pretty blue beetle :)

All your life people will tell you things. And most of the time, probably ninety percent of the time, what they'll tell you will be wrong. Human beings are just stuffed full of misinformation. So it's hard to know who to believe.

I heard the same...but perhaps we were still together then...lol. I also beleive the belt buckle was an actual life monitoring device...similar in function to the com-badge in TNG
